Why House of Gabrielle? What's Behind the Name?

How I came up with the name and brand for House of Gabrielle




The new brand for House of Gabrielle, has just been released!! Exciting times!!




When I started work on my blog idea, I knew I had to come up with a good name for the brand. I really took my time to think about what I wanted the overall brand to represent and what I wanted to share. It deserved a name and brand that would really work its purpose and encompass my own unique style as well as, the many different passions and level of expertise I have and would be sharing.


I made a list -- Recipes, fashion, beauty, family life/love, self care/love, home decor and decorating, body positivity, ally-ship.


An idea started to form.


All of these things I listed I do from my beautiful new home. The home is the heart of the operation. Including the self care, love portion. Because after all the body is your first home. Self care is the care of your most important home -- your body, you mind, your soul. I tried many names and nothing felt like or resonated the way House of Gabrielle did and so it stuck.


I’ve worked with many big name brands over the years and created many brands for clients, customers, family and for my own passion projects. So, I called on my years of expertise as a brand creator and expert and set to work coming up with the logo for House of Gabrielle.


The first rendition, I went with a classic looking loop stitch design surrounded by botany sketch like flowers and thus the brand that is House of Gabrielle took shape. A soft, feminine design that lent itself to the idea of the home with a touch of refined detail. The flowers featured in the design are wild roses, which are indigenous to the area in which I live, Northern Canada.


After a bit of use I revised those same elements to simplify the logo and bring it a much more modern and fresh look.
