Spring Trends Report 2023

Spring has sprung and the fashion popping up from the runways is heating up the snowy weather with pastels, neons and more colour, ruffles, fringe and frills than a carefully curated garden.

Here is this seasons (Spring/Summer 2023) trends report. These are the trends we want to incorporate into our wardrobe ASAP. So let's get starte

Lavender Haze

Purple is the hottest colour on the runway for Spring and Summer, this year. Taylor swift even wrote a song about the colour. It's that on trend. So, I highly recommend we all get ourselves a piece of pastel, lavender or vibrant purple and add it into our spring/summer wardrobe line up.

If you're feeling adventurous, don't just get one piece, go head to head to toe purple with a great power suit, a pants and a sweater combo, or a show stopping dress. Let's rock this trend like T. Swift.

Sheer

Nothing says feminine and flow-ey like a dress in a gorgeous sheer fabric. The SS23 runway was full of show stopping sheer pieces. The key to wearing this trend in every day life is to add in one sheer element to your outfit. Pair a sheer button up with a blazer or a trench coat in the same colour. Dress a sheer skirt with more solid pieces on top. For warmer weather a sheer dress over a bathing suit makes for a gorgeous cover up option. Whichever way you do it, keep it simple. We only want to invest in one or two pieces of sheer goodness.

Rosettes

They are back! Yes! That's right, the ever popular trend from the early 2000's is making a big comeback in a big way. We have been seeing rosettes sneak their way unto the runways for a few seasons now. This season rosettes are showing up on all kinds of pieces and in all kinds of fabrics, from ready-to-wear to couture. This trend is one that will be here for a few more seasons to be sure.

In store, this trend has been selling out like hot cakes so pieces are incredibly hard to find. However, if you do find a store carrying rosette pieces, try and opt for a broach rosette so you can add it to different outfits or try and get your hands on a rosette top such as this one from Anthropoligie.

Fringe

This is not the brown suede jacket arm fringe of the 70's. This is the fun, feminine 20's flapper inspired fringe adorning hemlines of skirts and dresses. On the SS23 runway fringe was complimenting outfits in all kinds of ways. To incorporate this into your wardrobe invest in a fringed purse or skirt such as this one from H&M.

20's Style Inspired Suiting

The roaring 20's made an appearance in more ways than one on the runways for SS23. With sheer and fringe pieces popping up on the runways in an 20's inspired way it's no wonder that the suits followed suit, taking cues from the flappers and dappers of the roaring 20's.

To incorporate this look into your spring wardrobe look for coloured houndstooth, tweed or textured suit pieces. Wear them over a lace and satin-ey lingerie inspired camisole with layered gold chains, or a bucket hat and some two tone ballet flats. You're going for an undone suit look, think Great Gatsby after dark.

Metallics

Sparkle and shine is always on the run way in some way or another. This Spring trend is pulling inspiration from the early 2000's metallic looks. It's clean plastic like silver pants and pieces. It's a fun and flirty trend inspired by 2000's pop princesses. To bring it home, get a pair of shoes or boots in metallic like this great pair of cowboy boots from Torrid.

Ruffles

Flirty and feminine ruffles were all over the SS23 runways. A soft touch of movement to create interest to glamour wear. Add to your every day wardrobe with a cute ruffled top or tank. It's for an effortless and simple way to incorporate some springtime style and fun into your closet this year.

Vibrant Colours and Combos

This trend and its associated colours pop. Think neon greens, yellows and bright azure blues and pinks that make your eye balls bug out of your head. It's that bright. Go monochromatic with one colour all over in a power suit. Pair a vibrant piece with a neutral outfit. Mix and match a few coloured pieces and really have some fun with this trend.

Go bright or go home with this one.

Double Denim

The denim on denim trend has been on the runways for a few seasons now. But it is making denim waves this spring, especially the denim maxi. Get yourself a denim shirt or vest and pair with some great wide leg jeans or a denim skirt, maxi or midi, like this one from Zara.
