Nursery Room Reveal: How to do a Feature Wall
Doing up a nursery for babe can be a fun and exciting family home decor project. Whether you are having a boy or a girl, dressing up the nursery with gender neutral tones, full on with pink or blue cute baby decor pieces, toys, linens, and stuffies can be a home decor lovers dream come true.
When we decided to do up a nursery for our, soon to be coming into the world, baby boy, I got to work looking at inspiration. After a few hours on Pinterest, my home decor inspiration go to, I knew I wanted to do a board and baton feature wall. It was a project I always wanted to try and that was on trend. I wanted the baby room to have a soft, contemporary look and feel with natural masculine tones.

For the feature wall we headed to the hardware store and purchased 9 -- 7 foot lengths of door jam and the paint colour we choose.
We started by choosing a pattern for the feature wall. We wanted something that represented mountains but also something on the simple side so it was not too complicated for us to replicate.
We used a laser level and a level to draw out the design on the blank and primed wall that would be the feature wall.
Once we had the pattern drawn out, we measured the lines and set to work cutting out the door jam pieces to match them. We then nailed them to the wall with a nail gun.
After all the door jam pieces were placed on the wall, we used painters caulk to seal any gaps between the door jams and the wall. Then set to work taping and painting the feature wall. We choose a deep, darker sage green colour.
It took two coats to cover the door jam and the wall.
Once the paint dried we set to work adding in furniture and decor. I was so happy with how the feature wall turned out and the nursery overall.
Most of the furniture that I acquired for the nursery is second hand or stuff we already had in other rooms. We are fortunate that we did not have to purchase a ton of new stuff to furnish the nursery room.
