An Easy Moose Stew Recipe the Whole Family will Love
In winter months nothing is as comforting and warming as steaming hot bowl of hardy stew.
This yummy tomato based stew is chocked full of goodness, potatoes, carrots, onions and chunks of tomatoes that will satisfy your need for some comfort food, with a northern Canadian twist, moose meat.

Ingredients:
I can of diced tomatoes
I can tomato paste
1/2 carton of beef broth
1 cup of water
4-5 carrots
1 yellow onion
1/2 pound of moose meat
5-6 yellow potatoes
2 bay leaves
3-4 cloves or garlic
1-2 tbsps of olive oil
1 tsp of paprika
1 tsp of onion powder
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of cumin
2 tbsps of corn starch or arrow root starch
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a small bowl combine paprika, salt and pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin and cornstarch. Add moose meat and coat meat well. In a large sauce pan, on medium/high heat add coated meat and sautée until well browned on the edges. Remove from heat, put aside and prep vegetables.
Dice onions and garlic. Cut the potatoes and carrots into medium sized pieces.
In a large pot on medium heat, add olive oil, chopped garlic and onion. Sautée onions and garlic until translucent about 5 - 10 minutes. Add in potatoes and carrots cook another 5 mins. Add in can of diced tomatoes, 1/2 carton of beef broth, 1 cup of water and tomato paste. Add browned moose meat. Add in bay leaves, salt and pepper to taste. Stir stew and combine ingredients well. Continue to cook on medium or until stew begins to boil, about 30 mins. Reduce heat and allow stew to simmer for about 3-4 hours.
Remove bay leaves and serve!
Note: If you can't acquire moose meat, sub in some beef stew chunks.
