Apple crisp is a yummy warm dessert, perfect dessert for cold winter days and to add to the tail end of a lovely family dinners. Super easy and simple to make and even easier to make dairy and gluten free. My favourite recipe is below.

Ingredients:
Apple Filling:
- 8 - 10 granny smith apples (can be swapped out for 8 - 10 cups of *peaches, *bananas or *other fruit) (*will alter cook times)
- 2 tbsps. of lemon juice
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of granulate sugar
- 1/4 cup of gluten free flour or starch
- 1 tbsp. of cinnamon

Crisp Topping:
- 3/4 cup of gluten free old fashioned oats
- 1/4 cup of gluten free flour or starch
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of granulate sugar
- 1/4 cup of cold vegan butter or coconut oil
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tbsp. of cinnamon
- dash of salt
Directions:
- Preheat Oven to 350 ˚F
- grease a 9x9 glass baking dish
Crisp Topping:

- In a medium mixing bowl mix together dry ingredients (oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Stir until well combined
- Add butter or oil, and work into mixture with a fork or your fingers until you get a crumbly texture. Set aside.
Apple filling:
- Peel apples and cut into slices
- Add to a large mixing bowl
- Add lemon juice
- Add flour, brown sugar and cinnamon and toss until well coated
- Place the apple filling in to baking dish and add on topping
Baking:
- Place crisp in the oven for 35 - 45 mins or until golden brown
- Note: If you use coconut oil the topping will brown much faster. Place a piece of tented tin foil on top to keep from burning the topping.
- Serve warm and topped with dairy free ice cream or plain dairy free yogurt
