7 Healthy, Yummy Oatmeal Recipes to Start Your Day

I love to start my days with a good yummy breakfast. I'm one of those hungry as soon as I rise types. So I need something filling and hearty to get me going in the morning and good old fashioned oatmeals are my favourite breakfasts besides pancakes. There are so many ways to dress up oatmeal you can try something new everyday. Here are a few of my favourite oatmeal recipes.


Apple Harvest Oatmeal Recipe


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water

  • 2 cups of oatmeal of your choice

  • 1/2 fresh royal gala apple

  • 1 tbsps of raisins

  • 1 tbsp of dried cranberries

  • 1 tbsp slivered almonds

  • 1 tbsp chopped walnuts

  • 1-2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup

  • Top with some almond milk

  • sprinkle of cinnamon

Directions:


Add 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot. Add 2 cups of oatmeal and reduce heat to a simmer. Allow to oatmeal to simmer for 4-5 minutes or until oats are tender and soft. Remove from heat. Divide oatmeal into two small bowls.


Cut up apple into small chunks and add to bowlsl. Then add raisins, dried cranberries, almonds, walnuts, brown sugar/maple syrup, top with some almond milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy!


Red Berry Parfait Oatmeal


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water

  • 2 cups of oatmeal of your choice

  • 1/2 cup of strawberries

  • 1/2 cup of raspberries

  • 1/4 cup of greek yogurt

  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup

  • sprinkle of cinnamon

Directions:


Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot. Add 2 cups of dried oats and reduce heat to a simmer. Allow to oats to simmer for 4-5 minutes or until oats are tender and soft. Remove from heat. Divide oatmeal into two small bowls.


Cut up strawberries into small chunks and add to bowls. Then add raspberries, yogurt, maple syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy!


Blueberry Parfait Oatmeal



Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water

  • 2 cups of oatmeal of your choice

  • 1 cup of blueberries

  • 1/4 cup of greek yogurt

  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup

  • sprinkle of cinnamon

Directions:


Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot. Add 2 cups of dried oats and reduce heat to a simmer. Allow to oats to simmer for 4-5 minutes or until oats are tender and soft. Remove from heat. Divide oatmeal into two small bowls.


Add blueberries, yogurt, maple syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy!


Banana and Peanut Butter Oatmeal



Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water

  • 2 cups of oatmeal of your choice

  • 1/2 banana

  • 1 tbsps of raisins

  • 1 tbsps of walnuts

  • 1-2 tbsp peanut butter

  • 1-2 tbsp honey

  • 1-2 tbsp super seeds (equal parts flax meal, chia seeds, hemp hearts)

Directions:


Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot. Add 2 cups of dried oats and reduce heat to a simmer. Allow to oats to simmer for 4-5 minutes or until oats are tender and soft. Remove from heat. Divide oats into two small bowls.


Cut up banana into small chunks and add to bowls. Then add peanut butter, raisins, walnuts, honey, top with some super seeds. Enjoy!


Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water

  • 2 cups of oatmeal of your choice

  • 1/2 over ripe banana

  • 1-2 tbsp raw cocoa

  • 1-2 tbsp peanut butter

  • 1-2 tbsp honey

  • 1 banana

Directions:


Add 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot. Add 2 cups of dried oats and reduce heat to a simmer. Allow to oats to simmer for about 2 minutes.


Smash over ripe banana in a small bowl add to oatmeal. Stir in well. Add in raw cocoa to oatmeal and stir in well. Continue to stir and cook oatmeal until oats are tender and soft. Remove from heat. Divide oatmeal into two small bowls.


Cut up banana into slices and add to bowls. Then add peanut butter and honey. Enjoy!


Pumpkin and Pecan Oatmeal


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water

  • 2 cups of oatmeal of your choice

  • 1 cup of pumpkin puree

  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1-2 tbsp of pecans

Directions:


Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot. Add 2 cups of dried oats and reduce heat to a simmer. Allow to oats to simmer.


Add 1 cup of pumpkin puree to oats. Stir in well. Continue to stir and cook oatmeal until oats are tender and soft. Remove from heat. Divide oatmeal into two small bowls.


Add pecans and maple syrup. Enjoy!


Spicy Sunny Side up Oatmeal and Eggs


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water

  • 2 cups of oatmeal of your choice

  • 4 eggs

  • 1-2 tbsp of hot sauce of your choice

  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:


Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot. Add 2 cups of dried oats and reduce heat to a simmer. Allow to oats to simmer.


In a castor iron frying pan on medium heat add coconut oil and crack eggs onto the pan. Fry eggs sunny side up for about 3-4 minutes covered with a large pot lid, until desired done-ness (easy, medium, hard).


Continue to stir and cook oatmeal until oats are tender and soft. Remove from heat. Divide oatmeal into two small bowls. Place Sunny side eggs on top of oatmeal, add hot sauce and salt and pepper.


Enjoy!


Oatmeal is super yummy and filling. It's a great way to start the morning.
